Completed! Hydro-seeding to take place mid-August

Day 6 - Septic System aka Our Big Dig
smoothing out huge mounds of dirt

Dick and Susan were here this past weekend.

Tom, Susan, and Dick have been friends for over 40 years.

Day 4 - Septic System/Leach Field

Just about complete now

20 dumptruck loads of sand, then gravel and pipes

Day 3 - Septic System/Leach Field

Tom says, "This could be an olympic sized swimming pool should Athens become untenable. But then we'd have to deal with the poop. Hey, what about the pond? It's probably better than some of Athens and the fish would grow really big. A possible market for North Korea interests?"

Cindy finished another sailors' valentine today. This one's different because it's made exclusively from shells found in Westport.

It's not as colorful as the other valentines - that's just the nature of shells in our area.

Day 2 - Septic System Repair (Title 5)

Day 1

Ugh. The dreaded day arrives. When we bought the house, the septic inspector fudged his report. We didn't know this until we had a back up this past Fall. In order to be compliant with state laws a whole new system has to be built.

Here goes the backyard!

There's a strange looking weeping spruce tree in our backyard that we affectionately named "The It" some years ago. Some of our family and friends have suggested we depose of "It" or at least move "It" from the center of our yard -- they say "It" looks creepy. Some think "The It" is even threatening. Others are quite fond of "It" and campaigned to save "It". Still others suspect an extraterresterial origin. Anyway, it's getting closer to the day when the new septic system will begin and "It" will have to move or go.

Fearing impossible religious sacrilege, we decided to spare "Its'" life. Today "It" was moved to a new location on the property.

tree expert, Herb, prepares "The It" for moving
He's got this really neat tree removal machine that scoops up trees

New location at the back of our property (hurray for some people).

But, important to some, you are still able to view "It" from the house.

settling in

We discovered "It" has enough room inside for a chair.

Tom is thinking about a one-man Internet cafe.

Kelly's bridal shower was held at our home on June 19 - it was really fun and the weather was perfect!

Cindy took tons of photos which will be shared soon
